50 Photos of Amazing Spiritual Sites in America

serpentA story on the Huffington Post “This Is The Most Spiritual Place In Your Home State,” is not really a story, but a photo montage. But unlike other “Best of This” and “Best of That” articles, this post is unpredictable with a collection of some amazing pictures of places you’ve likely never heard of. Take for instance, The Great Serpent Mound near Peebles, Ohio (pictured).

The 1,348-foot-long, three-foot-high effigy is believed to have been built by members of the Fort Ancient culture around 1070 CE. The serpent winds back and forth for more than eight hundred feet with seven coils. The serpent head has an open mouth around an oval feature.

Other top spiritual places aren’t all the usual, either. For instance, Michigan’s most spiritual place is the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn. Nebraska’s is the Hindu Temple of Omaha. And the photo of the ceiling of the Temple Emanu-El in New York City is stunning.
